INTERESTED IN JOINING?

membership at First McKinney

At First McKinney, we believe we have a calling to teach people how to live and love like Jesus.  Our greatest desire as a community of believers is to encourage and equip you to move beyond your own personal journey and intentionally invest in others to help them do the same.  This process is known as discipleship; it's the model Jesus gave us to help the world know and worship Him.  Whether you haven't taken your first step in your discipleship journey, or you've been following Jesus for years, we are ready to help you step into new levels of growth.  We would love for you to join our church family!

How do I become a member?

STEP 1

Discover First

If you're interested in becoming a member of our church, the first step is to attend our Discover First class.  Typically held every few months, this class is held in a laid-back setting that allows you to learn more about First McKinney: what we believe, how to get connected, ways to serve, and what it means to be a member.

STEP 2

Share Your Story

During Discover First or on a Sunday in our Next Steps room, you'll talk with one of our ministers or lay leaders.  The minister or lay leader will hear a little bit about your faith journey, discuss baptism, and give next steps for how to get involved.  This conversation also allows you an opportunity to ask questions about First McKinney.  If the minister or lay leader can't answer a question, they will connect you with someone who can.

STEP 3

Join by Letter, Statement, or Baptism

Join by letter:

Joining by letter means you are currently a member of another Baptist church and would like to transfer your membership letter to First McKinney. Simply let us know where you are a member, and we will contact them requesting to transfer your letter. This process usually takes less than a month.

Join by statement:

Joining by statement means you have committed to follow Jesus and have participated in water baptism by immersion sometime in the past, regardless of the denomination in which you were baptized.

Join by baptism:

The Bible clearly teaches that baptism is the first step of obedience after making a commitment to become a Christ-follower.  Baptism allows a believer to communicate to the world their heart-felt commitment to Christ.   If you have questions about baptism, you can find out more about what the Bible says regarding baptism by visiting the Next Steps Room, located south of the Worship Center and directly across from the doors leading into the Connection.
If your ready to be water baptized or would like more information about baptism, please complete the appropriate form below:

STEP 4

Engage

A committed member of First McKinney will:

  • Worship God. Putting Christ at the center of his life, engaging in personal devotion and corporate worship.
  • Living in Community. Finding their people and experiencing the joy of Christian relationships in Life Groups.
  • Serving Others. Giving of his time, talent, and treasure, toward the local church and out of love and appreciation for God's gift of grace.
    • Serve: We desire all members to join our mission to lead all generations to love Jesus by serving at church, locally in our city, and around the world with our global ministry partners.
    • Give: We desire all members to give generously to God's mission for First McKinney.
  • Making Disciples. Intentionally investing in others to help them live and love like Jesus.
